Florida State university Fun

Florida State University - A Tallahassee Community

Many of you already know, I am a 4th Generation Tallahassean. For as long as I can remember, Florida State University has been a part of my family. My grandmother graduated in 1947 with a degree in Elementary Education when Florida State was Florida State college for Women! There is so much history at Florida State University, way beyond my years, and I love uncovering the pages of my history.

When my daughters chose Florida State University as their college, no one could have been more pleased than I! Although I did not attend Florida State, I felt the legacy has been carried through the generations, via my grandmother, my aunts, and uncles, my sister, and my children. Yes, I believe I bleed garnet and gold. Since my oldest began FSU in the fall of 2001, I have been involved at FSU in the Parent's Association, now known as the Family Connection. I have served as President, or Chair of the FSU Family Connection now for three years and am thrilled to see it growing into a resource for parents and for fostering students and parent relationships and in enabling them to share their experiences at FSU.

I've had the opportunity to visit Florida State many times and roam the hallways and buildings. I love taking photographs, sketching the architecture and listening to the sounds of the university. On occasion I run across great articles, videos, and books about Florida State and hope to share a few with you here:
